Yaram Arts, African Night Fever with support from Chanya Culture presents Malian guitarist Habib Koité & Bamada at Rich Mix, London on Thursday 19th October. Also see below for details of the full UK tour.
Coming from a family of seventeen brothers and sisters, Habib developed his unique guitar style accompanying his griot mother. He inherited his passion for music from his paternal grandfather who played the kamele n’goni, a traditional four-stringed instrument associated with hunters from the Wassolou region of Mali.

Support comes from Kora virtuoso Sura Susso, one of the freshest talents from The Gambia.

‘The Birth of the Blues’

Corey will speak about the birth and evolution of the blues, relating it closely to the history that led to its formation. This will be followed by a Q&A and a book signing of his newly released biography of the great Malian guitarist Ali Farka Toure- ‘Jahtigui’.
